Let me introduce myself!


Hello there, friend! Thanks for stumbling on to my little corner of the internet! My name is Phoenix Jones, and I’m a business student here at Linn Benton Community College. I was born in California (embarrassing, I know) and moved to Corvallis, Oregon in 2021. I am enrolled in BA223 because marketing is the backbone of our current society. What you buy, where you invest, even where you live is all because of marketing. It is an important thing to know about if you want to advance in the world. My dream after LBCC is to go to mortuary school and become an undertaker. I wish to support grieving families though the hardest parts of their lives, while providing a respectful send-off to the deceased. I used to want to be a gymnastics coach, as I did gymnastics for 11 years (my body is mad at me now) so I figured I’d go into something involving the sport that dominated my childhood.

  For this assignment, the company I chose to analyze is Cider, a fashion brand with the instagram handle @shopcider. This brand started out with a lot of traction on the internet due to its wide range of unique products that cater to an audience of young women who want to dress in a certain fashion. I originally liked and supported this brand because the styles were some I’d never seen before at such a low price point. But upon ordering products from their store, and the reviews reflect this, the quality is cheap and is very clearly fast fashion. The clothes have the quality to only be worn once before being thrown away.  The value proposition of this company is easily available fashion for any occasion, blending different cultures in their product line, and as is said on the website, “Everyday statement pieces for everyone, everywhere, in every mood. Marketing in the News: J.Crew

  The fashion industry is an ever expanding, ever changing industry. It’s incredible what designers are able to cook up, from Louis Vuitton, to A New Day produced by Target, to independent designers selling from their homes through Etsy. This world is fascinating, but is also very overwhelming if you don’t know what you’re doing. Sometimes a person doesn’t want fancy one of a kind dresses, but rather a pair of jeans and a good quality sweater. That’s where J.Crew comes in. J.Crew has been a staple in affordable fashion for decades. They’re statement is “New Arrivals, New Outfits, J.Crew quality”.
